Loving the Variety of Formats In: Sarah Polley’s Stories We Tell, which screens at the MoMA’s Roy and Niuta Titus Theater on January 8. Polley uses home movies, photographs, and interviews to delve into her mother’s life, examining notions of truth, family, memory, loss, and understanding.
Remembering That Women Are Still: experiencing a 4% problem in the film industry. The Week notes that of 149 films slated for release during 2014, only 6 come from female filmmakers, an even wider margin than in 2012.

She also writes the Substack newsletter Dream of a Better World and hosts the podcast vHopeful Conversations, where she champions the independent film and documentary community through in‑depth, craft‑driven dialogues.

Her work is driven by a strong creative vision, championing well-represented female characters and immigrant stories.
